Snooooozin' Sunday...

You ever feel like doin' this??? ;-)

When you've had a wild weekend, but not enough rest...

when you've had a little too much to eat, but not enough ice cream...

when the Broncos cannot beat one of the worst teams in the league...

Darn it anyway, it's time for a nap!!!

(You tell em, Shori!)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Never bring cupcakes to the Nursery!! ;-)

My husband Bob and I are lucky to serve each Sunday in the nursery - we watch all the children ages 18 months-3 years old while their parents attend their Sunday classes. I love this service because it gives the parents a well needed break, and we get the chance to play with the kids and spoil them rotten, eat good food, play with toys and get ourselves messy. And of course we teach them about Jesus Christ, and God's love for them. But anyway, today we had a special celebration because it's the last time we will be all together in the same classroom. Long story, but to put it simply, the two wards who meet in our building are splitting. So our class will be devided into two classes, and I won't get to see all of the kids each week anymore. We wanted to show all the kids how much we love them. So today we brought special treats in the nursery - CUPCAKES!!! Thank goodness I had my camera so I could capture these moments on film. Look how cute they are in the pictures - especially Ivy who leaned over to eat her cupcake without her hands!! ;-) Man, I love these kids with all my heart - their friendship in my life is such a blessing. And may their parents forgive me for their chocolate covered faces, dirty clothes, and the suger highs they must have had when they got home. Bob said they could send us their laundry bill.. ;-) But anyhow, we learned a very valuable lesson today- NEVER bring cupcakes to the nursery!! You can never have enough wet-wipes handy...
Happy Happy Joy Joy!!

Happy Happy Joy Joy!!

This is what my face looked like on Friday when I had to say goodbye to my gym at work. They are closing it down because we'll be moving buildings in a couple of weeks, and unfortunately they will not have a gym anymore in our new building. I'm pretty sad about that, considering that I've lost 27 pounds over the past four months - thanks to this fun little room. I am really going to miss it, especially when the snow starts to fall. This fun bike has become a really good friend to me over the past few weeks, and I hate to say goodbye. Oh well, it's just a bike, it doesn't even know my name, and it's just sitting here in this room. But still... I hate change!!

Happy Birthday Justin!!! My little buddy Justin turns 11 years old this weekend. Bob and I spent the day with him and his family yesterday. I can't believe how quickly 11 years has gone by. I remember the day Justin was born, and how lucky I was to be in the delivery room with his mother, father and grandmother Lyn. When he finally came into the world, I squeeled so hard and jumped up and down for joy! He was such a blessing into our lives, and he continues to be so. I was fortunate to be his nanny for the first year of his life, and watch as he smiled for the first time, talked for the first time and took his first steps. He's an amazing young man, and he will always be my little buddy. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!!!

And look how big Justin's baby sister is getting. Shori is already sitting in her high chair like a big girl and giggling and coo-ing as she watches the world around her. She is getting more pretty each and every day. My husband watched over her while Laura and I packed boxes and got things done. And I can't blame her for being so comfortable around my handsome Bob that she fell asleep. Bob has that certain magical charm about him. ;-)

Tegan Robert - such a handsome little guy who loves to show off to his Aunt Jen and Uncle Bob. This is Tegan hiding under the kitchen table. He never fails to make us laugh when we're around him - he's such a fun monkey boy with a unique, special spirit!! ;-)

I don't know what I would do without my special family and friends who share their lives and share their families with me. Laura has always been a person who has allowed me to feel like I'm a part of her family, and share her children and their lives with me, and I could never thank her enough for that. She is a special, wonderful friend!!

Happy Happy Joy Joy indeed!! More to come!!

The cutest gal at the luau - wasn't me!

video Here is the cutest guest at my luau ;-) Just watch this, and you can't help but agree with me.

After the party ended, my best friends were the last people to leave - Annie, my wonderful sister in law, and my Laura with her family. I'm so glad they stayed awhile - we hung out and played guitar hero and watched Annie and Shori fall asleep on the couch. It was the perfect ending to a perfect party! I'll never forget it.

Welcome to the Luau~ JenBob Style!

videoOkay - how to explain how much fun we had this weekend? Where to even begin? Bob and I decided that we wanted to have a special party for our family and our closest friends - something to celebrate the end of the summer, and the beginning of our favorite time of the year - FOOTBALL season and the fall. We also wanted to share our new home with our loved ones, and give Larry and Darin (Bob's brothers who live in our basement) a special night they would always remember. And what better way to accomplish this than to throw a party - Hawaiian style!!

video

And so after weeks of preparation, catering real Hawaiian food from L&L Hawaiian BBQ, renting tables and chairs and decorations from various party stores, and spending almost 12 hours cleaning up the yard, trimming trees, and putting everything together, the day of our luau finally arrived - last Saturday evening. We had a pretty good turn out, even though not all of our family members were able to make it. I was so happy to look around my yard and to see the faces of all my family who did come. And my friends whom I have always considered to be part of my family. The kids ran around and played with the toys in the gift bags that my husband had put together for them. The food was delicious. We lit bamboo torches which were spread all around us to make the atmosphere more "Hawaiiany" (even though I have a major fear of fires, especially around so many trees and dry grass. We only had one minor incident when a torch fell over, but Shannon was able to put it out quickly with water, thank goodness. I'd hate to loose my new house so soon LOL~ ) But anyway, the whole thing was just so much fun, and so wonderful to see and spend time with my loved ones all evening long. Everyone received a lei as they entered our backyard, and I gave them all a hug and kiss. ;-) Larry made papaya ice cream slushies for desert, and also cookies to share. I wanted the party to last forever - it was fun to chill, relax and laugh alot. Thank goodness my mom had her camera with her, and was able to catch lots of moments that I would have missed otherwise. Thanks mommy!! ;-)

videoBut the best part of the evening was a special guest star that arrived to sing and perform for us while we finished eating. It was Hawaiian Elvis himself!! He sang to us and played the guitar and entertained the children. Wow, he was amazing. (I always knew that Elvis was still alive LOL~) I took many vidoes of him which I will share more in future entries, but the one I wanted to share tonight was Elvis singing to my mother. It was pretty hilarious! ;-) Please excuse the loud, obnoxious laughter that you hear - the camera lady was tickled too pink. You may want to turn your volume down, ha ha! But Elvis was awesome and he was worth every penny! The kids were dancing with him, and being his "band." It was too cute!

More to come later! I'm exhausted now and need to get some sleep. We have so much left over food to store, and so much party mess to clean up. But I LOVE cleaning, so it's not a big deal. ( I know, I'm a weird soul) It was all completely worth it, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, Bob and I are thinking that this will become a tradition for the JenBob - a party that we will throw once a year. Next year - a Mexican fiesta!! ;-)

Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!
